Sustainability at SOMIC
We act responsibly – for a liveable future
Is it possible to combine packaging engineering and sustainability? We think: Yes, it is!
SOMIC is aware of its ecological and social responsibility and strives for harmony between economic goals and ecological values in all its decisions. This attitude finds daily expression in our actions. The principle of sustainability at SOMIC has ecological, economic and social aspects and thus meets all the needs of current and future generations. Durability and continuity are particularly important for our packaging machines.
Ecology
Our machines score with our technical concept. This is what SOMIC machines are known for: maximum performance on the smallest footprint. In addition, our packaging machines convince with reliable multi-format capability, minimised noise emissions and the lowest wear and spare parts requirements.
We make an important contribution to climate protection, for example at our headquarters in Amerang (Germany), where we use 100% green electricity. This switch to renewable energy sources significantly reduces our CO₂ emissions and underlines our commitment to a sustainable future.
Economy
Sustainable action is also based on lasting and respectful cooperation between the company, its employees, customers and suppliers. We source many of our assemblies and components from the immediate area around our company location in Amerang in the Bavarian Chiemgau region. SOMIC "Made in Bavaria".
In addition, we develop highly automated packaging solutions that offer economic advantages through material and energy efficiency and save costs in the long term. In this way, we combine economic goals with ecological added value.
Social
As a family foundation, SOMIC takes its responsibility as a mid-sized employer in the region very seriously. Many young people are offered the opportunity to learn a solid apprenticeship and then work in a safe and interesting working environment.
Sustainability - a practiced tradition at SOMIC
CEO Patrick Bonetsmüller is the second generation to run the family business. It goes without saying that SOMIC cultivates long-term relationships with employees, suppliers and customers based on partnership. This ensures appreciation, reliability and constant success on the market - and forms a good and sustainable foundation. The passion for high-tech and absolute perfection is what distinguishes and drives our engineers. However, our focus is always on people.
Our actions are based on a balance between ecological values and economic goals. Sustainability runs through all areas of our work. At the same time, our aim is to offer our customers sustainable and cost-effective solutions through economically efficient processes. Our machines are designed not only to deliver maximum performance, but also to be environmentally friendly and resource-saving in use. This strengthens our market position and helps our customers to achieve their economic goals and implement their own sustainability targets.
Regionality as a component of sustainable action
Our suppliers are located in the area directly surrounding our company site. This ensures a fast and secure supply of the necessary parts and guarantees consistently high quality. Short transport routes and the use of sustainable transport solutions minimise our own ecological footprint. Likewise, a binding supplier and value code forms the basis for all supplier relationships.
Durability and resource conservation
Another element of the sustainability concept is the long service life of our machines. For instance, a later adaptation to new products or formats is planned from the very beginning. Programming new format programmes via remote control is fast and saves travel costs as well as many kilometres. Furthermore, new format parts can also be produced - even for machines from the 1990s.
In all SOMIC machine concepts, consumption data is taken into account from the very beginning. Resource-saving use of operating materials means savings for our customers in the respective consumption units and therefore also in the ongoing operating costs.
